ENSURING SECURE, ACCURATE, AND TRANSPARENT ELECTIONS
Under the leadership of Clerk Lyons, Kent County elections are administered in strict adherence to election law. During her time in the Michigan House of Representatives, Lisa chaired the House Committee on Elections and Ethics where she worked closely with Michigan's elections administrators to modernize the state's voting laws and infrastructure, making our elections more secure.
Clerk Lyons has overseen the administration of 23 Kent County elections since taking office in January 2017. In that time she's been a vocal advocate for transparency by encouraging the public and media to observe pre-election testing of voting equipment, to participate as Election Inspectors, and attend the post-election canvass, recounts, and audits. Whether they vote early in-person, by absentee ballot, or at the polls on Election Day, Kent County voters can be confident that their elections are secure, transparent, fair, and accurate.

Kent County residents deserve efficient and effective leadership from their elected officials. Lisa Posthumus Lyons manages the County Clerk / Register of Deed's Office as a model of solid fiscal responsibility. Clerk Lyons is continually working with her team to ensure that every process and practice within her office met the test of efficiency, often cutting red-tape, redundancy, and waste.

From maintaining vital records to administering elections, and recording your property transactions while safeguarding our community by protecting court records, the Clerk/Register's office interacts with the public at every major milestone of their life. Despite being an elected partisan position, this office is first and foremost about serving the people of Kent County. Clerk Lyons takes that role very seriously by putting people above politics.
IMPROVING TRANSPARENCY
Clerk Lyons is a fierce advocate of maintaining all legally provided for public access to the county's records and court documents. As State Representative, Lisa Lyons promoted legislation that improved transparency in elections and the financing of political campaigns, and she's continued those same efforts as our County Clerk. During her tenure, he Kent County Elections Department has implemented new software programs to improve public access to campaign finance reports and the enforcement of compliance. Additionally, she's worked tirelessly to promote public awareness of the administrative processes performed by election officials prior to, on, and after, Election Day.

Efficiently serving the over 650,000 residents of Kent County requires deliberate action to serve the public in innovative ways. Clerk Lyons has led the transition from an office operating with obsolete equipment and software systems to one that's modernized the way we meet the ever-changing demands of our customers. From making more of our services available online, to keeping the office operational during the COVID-19 shutdowns, Clerk Lyons has delivered on her promise to provide excellent customer service.
