County clerk: Proposal 2 changes too dramatic, harmful for Michigan

As former chairwoman of the House Elections Committee, I led efforts to adopt rules ensuring Michigan has secure, free, and fair elections. Now as Kent County clerk, I make certain the rules are applied so voters can be confident in the outcome. Voters must decide on Proposal 2, which makes dramatic, harmful changes to our constitution regarding Michigan's elections.

LANSING, MI -- After six years representing portions of Kent and Ionia counties in the Michigan Legislature, State Rep. Lisa Posthumus Lyons, R-Alto, is coming home.
Elected to three consecutive terms representing the 86th District in the Michigan House of Representatives, Lyons was unable to run for reelection due to state term limits.
She instead ran for election on a county level and was elected by voters in November as Kent County's next clerk and register of deeds.
